Whilst working for Demon Leather in Sydney, Australia the designer and I were approached by the costume buyer Catherine Martin. The brief was to produce leather accessories for the upcoming Baz Lurhman directed film,'Australia' starring Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman. Items produced included leg gaiters, drover's belts, gun holsters, whip braided belts, leather knife sheaths, and watchstraps. This project was particularly relevant for me as I had been studying vintage cowboy leather-work and whip-making with my previous employer, Bill Amberg, who had worked in Australia in his youth.
